The Next Few Days Will Be 'Crucial' in the Fight Against Coronavirus: Minister

Rabat - "The next few days will be crucial" in the fight against the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) given the confirmation of local cases, minister of Health, Khaled Ait Taleb, pointed out Wednesday evening.

"The situation is under control so far, but the confirmation of isolated cases pushes us to be more mobilized and display more solidarity in order to stop the spread of the virus," the minister added in a statement broadcast live by MAP through its M24 TV channel and RIM RADIO.

Referring to 1,362 people who had contact with the 54 confirmed cases, Ait Taleb underlined the need to implement the precautionary measures issued by the competent authorities so that the number of cases does not increase further.

"When local cases are confirmed, the figure will probably increase," said the minister, who took the opportunity to call on citizens to limit their movements and comply with self-isolation at home.

He also highlighted the role of the hotline and SAMU 141 set up by the ministry of Health to allow Moroccans to get information on the disease. In this regard, Ait Talleb announced the launch of the new website (http://www.covidmaroc.ma) which provides information about the epidemic.

The minister also thanked health professionals who are on the front line in the fight against coronavirus.
