Morocco is Emerging as Leading Country in Renewable Energy (US Congressman)





Rabat – Today, Morocco is emerging as a model to follow and a leading country in the field of renewable energy, said Frank Pallone, chairman of the Energy and Trade Committee in the US Congress.

During a meeting, Monday in Rabat, with speaker of the House of Representatives (lower house), Habib El Malki, Pallone said that the US parliamentary committee is interested in Morocco's experience in the clean energy sector, while highlighting the depth of the long-standing relationship between the two countries.

According to a statement by the lower house, the US official, who is leading a large delegation on a working visit to Morocco, praised the Kingdom's leading role in the fight against terrorism.

For their part, the members of the delegation highlighted Washington's interest in relations with Rabat, recalling the reforms initiated under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI.

In this regard, they commended Morocco's experience in the key areas of religious field management, the supervision of Imams and the promotion of women's conditions, as well as the Kingdom's leadership on a continental scale as a bridge to Africa.

The delegation, composed of members of the Democratic and Republican parties, said that the visit to the Kingdom will give a new impetus to cooperation between the legislative institutions of the two countries.

Speaking at the meeting, El Malki shed light on Morocco's efforts in areas related to the fight against terrorism and extremism as well as in the service of peace and stability at the regional and global levels.

In addition, he stressed the importance of reforms undertaken in Morocco to consolidate democracy, human rights and the rule of law.
