Morocco, UNDS Examine in Rabat Ways to Strengthen Cooperation

Rabat - Means to strengthen cooperation between Morocco and the United Nations Development System (UNDS) were at the center of a meeting, Monday in Rabat, between Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and UNDS resident coordinator in Morocco Philippe Poinsot.

The event is part of the meeting of the Steering Committee of the UN Development Assistance Framework in Morocco (UNDAF), during which Bourita emphasized the expectations of Morocco from the UNDS, particularly in terms of flexibility of support provided by this system which aims to give technical support to the government for the country's economic and social development, said Poinsot in a statement to the press at the end of this meeting. The two parties also discussed the new development model, the major projects in the Kingdom, as well as the various achievements of the Kingdom in several fields, namely vocational training, industry, youth, and in sectors where the UNDS has expertise, he said. He also expressed the willingness of the UNDS to back up a well-advanced country like Morocco in its development and to further strengthen its cooperation with the Kingdom, through support for triangular cooperation, the conclusion of new partnerships and the labeling of activities carried out by Morocco.

The UNDS brings together many funds, agencies, programs and entities with comparative advantages and varied mandates. A report containing the main activities and accomplishment of the UNDS in Morocco is published every year.
