Moroccan Ambassador to Italy Hands Credentials to President Sergio Matarella





Rome - Morocco's ambassador to Italy Youssef Balla was received, on Friday in Rome, by Italian President Sergio Matarella to whom he handed his credentials as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of HM the King to the Republic of Italy. During this audience, which took place at the Quirinal Palace, in the presence of the new Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Luigi di Maio, President Matarella asked the Moroccan Ambassador to convey his esteem to HM King Mohammed VI, while welcoming the friendship relations between the two countries, said a statement from the Moroccan diplomatic representation in the Italian capital.

On this occasion, Balla conveyed the greetings and esteem of HM the King to the Italian President, as well as the wishes of the Sovereign of further progress and prosperity to the Italian people. Ambassador Balla also expressed to President Matarella his determination to work, in accordance with the Royal Instructions, to enhance the relations of friendship and cooperation between Morocco and Italy, to further strengthen political relations and to develop economic and cultural ties between the two countries. This audience was an opportunity to recall the historic visit made by HM the King to Italy in 2000.

During this meeting, the Italian President lauded the Sovereign's role in the promotion of reforms in Morocco. He also highlighted the special characteristics of Morocco as a land of tolerance and stability.
