Lima - Venezuela seeks to establish cooperative relations with Morocco, said the diplomatic representative of Venezuela's interim president in Lima, Carlos Scull. "We want to establish cooperative relations with Morocco," Scull told MAP following his talks with Morocco's ambassador to Peru Youssef Balla, expressing his country's appreciation of the Kingdom’s position as Morocco “was the first African country to support the government of President Juan Guaido."

This is an “important” support, Scull pointed out, adding that the regime of Nicolas Maduro “had affected the Venezuelan people and seriously damaged our international relations". This regime "has maintained poor relationships with several democratic countries," he went on.

"We welcome the support of the international community, including that of Morocco," the Venezuelan diplomat said. The Kingdom of Morocco and Venezuela, which hosts the largest Moroccan community in Latin America, maintain strong relations of friendship, he noted, stressing the importance of establishing cooperative relations between the two countries.

Some 50 countries have recognised Guaido as Venezuela’s interim president, he pointed out.
